For my brother’s 30th birthday, I decided to try
my hand at being creative and did my best at making a birthday cake inspired by his favorite game, Risk.
Although my brother enjoyed the edible part of his birthday
surprise, the project left me realizing I have a lot to learn in the world of
cake creation and food art. With a little more planning and time management,
what was a pretty cool cake could have been a far more amazing cake with a
better presentation.
I’ll keep practicing and honing my skills though, and by the
next set of family birthdays, I should be serving some much more presentable
cakes.
The cake:
I used Simple Pairings’ Guinness, Whiskey, and Irish Cream
Chocolate Cake recipe to make this cake. Because I felt the Bailey's Frosting was too sweet, the cake was only covered in Whiskey Ganache and Fondant. To stay true to the original flavors, I concocted a Chocolate-Bailey's Ice Cream to serve alongside the cake.
